Who we are
Fak'ugesi exists to switch on ideas at the intersection of imagination and innovation. The Festival brings together African and international creatives, technologists, researchers and innovators to build, question and share new forms of digital and innovation practice.
Grounded locally.
Connected continentally,
Relevant globally.
Since 2014, Fak’ugesi African Digital & Innovation Festival has brought together artists, technologists, researchers, designers, entrepreneurs and cultural practitioners to exchange ideas, build collaborations and share new work.
Founded through the Wits School of Arts by Prof Christo Doherty, whose pioneering work in digital arts education and interdisciplinary innovation helped establish the foundations for South Africa’s digital creative sector, the festival found its home at the Tshimologong Digital & Innovation Precinct.
Today, Fak’ugesi is one of the continent’s leading platforms for African digital creativity, bringing together practitioners from across Africa and beyond to imagine, build and share new digital futures.
Twelve editions.
Twelve years of imagining what comes next.
